I admit it, I have a problem. That problem is buying more books than I have time to read any. Honestly, my TBR pile has grown considerably over the years. I am talking about probably over 100 books. How do I have so many books to read? you ask. Well when i was about 18-19, I went absolutely crazy when it came to buying books when I discovered booktube. I wanted all of the books and I got many of the said books so i thought what’s better to do than start reading them? You are in for a treat as i share with you the Top Three Books on my TBR List.
Having grown up a lot since my crazy buying years, my reading taste has also naturally changed. I used to buy all YA and now I have strayed towards more adult and most recently non-fiction books. Therefore, I have bought even more books! So now i am trying to work my way through them all and (hopefully) not buy anymore. So without further ado, let’s get on with the top three books on my TBR.
For years I have heard nothing but good things about this book. ‘This will change your life,’ people say, ‘definite must read.’ I think I am at that time in my life where I want to be wowed and read something that will change me for the better.
Paulo Coelho’s masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago’s journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.– The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
I, for one, need a bit of teaching on how to recognise opportunity and listening to my heart so this book is definitely on my TBR. Check it out here.
The Universe in Bitesized Chunks
Since the earliest humans walked the earth, the vast mysteries and wonders of the night sky have fascinated and beguiled us, as we’ve struggled to understand our place in the cosmos.– The Universe in Bitesized Chunks, Colin Stuart
Even after the last century, which saw important and startling discoveries about our own planet, our solar system and the stars and galaxies beyond, there remain more questions than answers. But those questions – What is dark matter? Are we alone in the universe? Is time travel possible? – provide a fascinating insight into the vastness and infinite possibilities of space that we’re yet to determine.
The sheer scale of the universe can be intimidating, but in this easily digestible book we embark on an incredible journey through all the essential astronomical discoveries, from the beliefs of ancient civilizations, through to the recent groundbreaking observations of the gravitational waves predicted by Einstein over 100 years ago. There’s never been a better time to get to grips with the universe and this essential guide to the cosmos is the perfect place to start!
I study Chemistry at university, so naturally I am a huge science nerd. Yes, chemistry is not the science of space but I have an obsession with space and i want to know as much as I can without the headache of all of the physics. The blurb reads as followed:
I’m really excited to read this book but I definitely think it will be a chapter a night type of read. Check it out here.
Crown of Midnight
Last but not least, we have the book I am currently reading (does this count?) It is the second book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas and it’s a YA fantasy novel.
I really loved Throne of Glass and so want to continue with the rest of the series! I am not going to give you a synopsis for this book because that will ruin the first one for you. The first book is about a female assassin, Caelena who is put into something like The Hunger Games where she has to compete with a bunch of other criminals and assassins to become the King’s Champion. She competes under the training of her ‘sponsor,’ the King’s son, Dorian and the head of guard, Chaol. Loads of mysterious and questionable things happen during the competition and its up to Cealena to put it right.
I read that book in two day and cannot wait to read this one! Check out the series, here!
So there you have it, my top three books on my TBR! i think with the rest of my books, around Christmas time, when I am back from university, I am going to sort everything out. Some our brand new/ bought second hand but I know I am definitely not going to read all of them as they may be too young for me or just do not interest me at all anymore. Maybe I could do a book unhaul post/ video? let me know if you would like to see that.
Do you have any books on your TBR? I would love to know what they are because your girl is always looking for more books to buy! 😉
